Revolution
Mmm, Revolution, or as some like to call it: Revulsion! This must be one of Edinburgh's largest clubs having 3 bars (+ 1 VIP bit.) It also sports the best lighting system I've seen, it goes up & down on a big gantry thing. Indeed, it looks very expensive which might explain the outrageous entry fee (Sat night £7) and bar prices, (Smirnoff Ice £3.70.) The sound system is probably just as impressive, on the dance floor it fair fills your head. However, if you need some peace you can head for the top bar away up on the balcony where it's a bit more subdued.
On the sticky carpet scale it gets a definite 10/10 and on the ned scale, well, it just doesn't go high enough. If you're out to pull, Rev. might be the place for you, however, if you need to ply them with alcohol first, better get the cheque book out.
Revolution attracts a fair number of "top chart acts" such as Ian Van Dahl, (That's a women you know...) So if your into clubbing in a big way, you need to go. The student night (Mondays I think,) are supposed to good with cheap deals on offer.
To sum up, I can't help but feel a little unsafe there, ironically, it's the bouncers that bother me. I believe if you scratch your ear in there presence they'll be likely to frog-march you to the door, they are that efficient. (10/10 on the surly bouncer scale!) If you're well off and don't mind being flailed for every penny you have then you need to visit Rev. Even if it's just for the experience.
