Ego
Ego is more of a venue for weekly and monthly club nights, I'm not even sure if it opens as a club in it's own right. I like it, or rather, I like the clubs that run there. Wiggle is a good night as is Vibe every Tuesday and I hear Joy, Mr Scruff and Vegas are good fun but not for the narrow minded.
There are usually drink offers on, the bar staff are efficient (but seem a little "startled" at times;) and the door staff keep out of the way. If it's not busy, it echoes a wee bit and if you go downstairs to the more intimate Cocteau Lounge mind your step as it gets a little slippy on the tiled floor. (Slippy, not sticky...)
The sound system is adequate and with eight point intelli-lighting it fills the room nicely. Lots of Podiums to pose on and usually plenty of space, although if it's crowded it does get quite hot.
One of the few clubs I am happy to stay at until the dying end... Speaking of which, I stumbled out one morning at 3am to be confronted by two young ladies who asked if I knew where they could get some "sweeties?" I said "Sure, the 24 hour garage on Leith Walk is open..." Well, I thought it was funny...:)
I like Ego, but pick your night wisely, it really could go several ways...
