A great wee bar/restaurant! I loved the menu. I think everyone should have a meal in here before they leave Glasgow

The restaurant part reminds me of being in a haunted house, you know, an big, old house thats been a bit neglected (which personally I quite like). Everythings kind of eclectic and shabby chic. Personally I liked it but I know thats not to everyones taste. More importantly though the food is great and really cheap! The chips are soooo good especially with the home made mayonaisse. I think if your other options are Pizza Hut or TGIs (u know, somewhere u can go just dressed in whatever u happen to have on) then its def worth a visit.

Reading Trubble Bubble's post, it puzzles me that you would be cricising someone for attempting humour by spelling things wrongly - think about it.

I liked the Spy Bar, it was close to my work (at the time), looked great & the food was lovely. Slow though, so lunchtimes were always difficult. The Butterfly & Pig's clearly aimed at a totally different clientele and either I'm getting old or my tastes have changed but I love the place! So it's 'quirky', but doesn't that just mean it has a personality of its own rather than sticking to the same old same old tried & tested that so many style bars seem to go for.

The food is simple & quality, the drinks are the same, though you get the feeling the bar staff actually work behind a bar rather than it being 'just a part-time job' - ask for something they don't have listed & chances are they'll be able to make it for you. Same goes for food.

Of course, I'm a muso so I'm just glad to see any venue that has live music on most nights of the week & actually pays its performers, though that's just an aside!

The Spy Bar was more style & trendy, the B&P's more comfort & fun so it's not a surprise if fans of the former are not fans of the latter. The Butterfly & the Pig is a bit different, serves beer in big handled glasses and has regular gigs by acoustic bands doing spoof versions of chart hits. If that's not to your taste then I'm sure there's always another Spy Bar somewhere.

The butterfly and pig is an amazing bar, the staff are really friendly and their food is gorgeous and the music is great. As to trubble bubble you quite clearly arent the clientele that the butterfly and pig are trying to market to, bet you are the type of person that thinks the buff club needs decorating instead of getting what the place is about. The owner of the B&P was the owner of all of CPL before he sold up (yeah thats stavka, cube, garage ect) the equivilant to half of glasgows bar and club scene, so clearly he does know how to open a bar. The whole point in the menu is not to be overly funny to point out the fact its laid back and they dont take anything to seriously. As for the bar its design is called something you may not of heard of before "shabby chic". Did you recognise that neither of the cutlery or glasses matched did you just think that they didnt have enough to go around bet you did. As for the layout of the bar the middle is open for standing space, the restuarant is cleared at night and you can accommodate seating for another forty people in there as well as thirty in the lounge not bad for a bar. Clearly youve made the point yourself not to go to this bar unless you have a sense of humour, want good food, are wanting to have a laugh with your mate and dont have a stick shoved up your ASS!!! px

Like a breath of fresh air in Bath Street! Menu was a hilarious read (has to be seen to be believed), staff were overly friendly and enthusiastic, and if the old school furnishings weren't enough, there was even a resident live pianist! Music was great too - jazz and easy listening, with comfy sofas to curl up on!

Foods awesome. If you like LARGE portions you'll like this place cos I've yet to get a meal in here that I could finish (and I can eat - believe me.)

The place is very kitsch (but not in a pretentious way like you see in a lot of west-end bars) Its very laid back. It's one of the things I like best about it - it doesn't seem to try to be some super bar - I think the owners are quite proud that this place simply 'is what it is'. :)

Best of all - you can get entry directly into the Buff Club from the pub and it's usually half price what you'd pay on the door. A nice touch if u ask me. :)

I've never been, but I've just heard Thomas Carrigan is gigging there on 13th May, I live in Blackpool but it will be worth the trek. I've seen the guy perform twice down here, and he went down a storm. With material like his he should be a success!

I had booked a table for 7 for lunch here today and we all enjoyed it. Those of us who'd been before as Spy Bar liked the new look. All agreed it was quirky - the unsual wallpaper, the tiling, the amazing cabinet displaying the desserts and of course the menu text describing the dishes in a wacky style.

As it was a Monday, the place was busy enough but not too packed to make service slow.

Our food was delivered to the table promptly enough and we were well looked after.

Main thing was we all enjoyed what we ate. Most had burgers which were substantial and really beefy. The chips were fresh, chunky and perfectly cooked albeit too many to eat the lot. One had a mackrel salad which looked really delicious; another had a succulent looking mushroom omelette.

Coffees to follow, again delivered without having to wait too long which can often be the case with a larger group.

The place was my choice and I'm pleased to say it went down well; my colleagues are going to go back.
