There's agreat west of Scotland tradition.
It involves people, on hearing a new venture is to open in an area where there's bars, clubs or restaurant, saying "oh, the part of the town doesn't need another..." and insert whatever type of outlet is appropriate.
Having family connections in that part of town, i've been to 500 club and i'm sold. I'm a fan.
The music, on my most recent night in was outstanding. A great mix with an interesting slant - playing succesive originals of tunes that had been danced up and remixed in new cover versions. Indeed, it was true to say these did "grace" the sound system and better still, it was not deafening.
A table top magician was doing his thing, whilst the door staff met and greeted everyone warmly on arrival. The staff were fast, cheery, and had their eye on the ball - replenishing candles on tables, lifting empties and you get served straight away.
The restaurant upstairs (White) was again - brilliant. From the menu holders to the very dishes listed within - well thought out and well presented.
If there's a phrase that springs to mind that can sum this place up, it is indeed, "well thought out".
The location, the decor, the customer service skills, the range of beers on tap - you name it. In the right place at the right time doing just what it should be.
A great bar, a great mix of clients (and rather pleasing on the eye despite the wide age range..)
This place is exactly what this part of the town needs and i'd actively encourage you to pay it a visit.
