I have been hear a couple of times and I thought it was pretty cool wee place, I think it all depends on who you meet and what sort of banter you have this can make or break a place which is a shame . I found the staff very nice and not slow at all must have been a bad night for the previous poster. The food is supposed to be fab or so I have been told ...

Very average wee sterile bar.
The staff could be much more helpful and the food could definitely be better.
Eaten there a couple of times and had yaki chicken ramen which was really nice.
Had the chicken satay another time and it was totally disgusting.
Never been there on an actual night out but from my experiences so far, not my cup of tea.

I love Soba.
It's the second nearest pub to my work without being a wetherspoons, or some wanky old mans pub.
The drinks verge on the dear side but it's a small price to pay for a great wee place. AND it's close to le Sub Club. We ALWAYS come here before the Sub. You've got too.. it's just not right if you don't..
The noodles are quality. I love the food here. But I'm always so drunk when we eat so I have no idea what the prices are like..
And have you seen the artwork on the walls? Baggsied.
Martin the bongo player = uber cool.
Um.. yeah.. Good place.

I tend to go here for a quiet drink when I want one, or when I've no intentions of going out after the pub. I've always wanted to have dinner in here because I think it looks really cool. It's not the cheapest place but it's certainly one to check out.

Went to Soba after a 'warm welcome' in Salty Dog.
I pass this bar every night on my way home from work and this place usually busy. My question is ... WHY??
There were a whole 5 people in our group and we decided to have a cocktail each, enticed by the cocktail and sushi offer for £3.50.
The place was reasonably busy but not too bad.
The service in here is SOOOOOOOOOOOO SLOOOOOOOOOOW.
2 of us went to the bar to order and stood for over 15 minutes before one of the 2 bar staff managed to speak to us. The 5 cocktails were ordered but having taken 10 minutes to make 3 of them we decided to just get 2 beers instead of the remaining drinks. Total time from attempt to order to sitting down with drinks .... 35 minutes. And 2 of the drinks were wrong (a Tokyo Bull, the bull part made of Red Bull was instead made with lemonade).
The sushi part of the order was 1 saucer with 2 pieces of sushi, between 5 of us. So I think if I had ordered 1 or 10 cocktails we would have got the same amount of food. Awful !!
Round 2 - We decided to go for bottled beer and a bottle of white wine. No white wine, as it had to come up from downstairs. 10 minutes later when it did arrive, it was warm. It had never been near a fridge. Took it back up to the bar to ask for an ice bucket full of ice to chill and was given a bucket with half a scoop of ice and topped up with water. We left soon after.
What is wrong with Glasgow ? Are there actually any places where the service is quick. I thought The Social was slow until SOBA.
I doubt I will be rushing back EVER !!!
I still cannot understand why this place seems so busy. Maybe it is because the people in it at 6pm have been waiting for their order since lunchtime ?!

Now i am a big fan of CHEAP booze and thats why the first time i ever went to Soba i was instantly put off. But, then one day i walked in at around 1pm, sat at the bar, placing my outrageously heavy uni book on it, whilst ordering a steeply priced pint of lager, and my outlook changed.
The reason being is that it is a GREAT place to go and chill out! Sitting there listening to the "wierd" but excellent chilled out tunes, i realised that i was slowly paying less and less attention to my books and more and more to the bored and very nice looking barmaid who kept talking to me. Since then i keep going and it doesnt matter whos on the bar they are always really friendly and will even throw a pint or two my way! Downstairs is chilled and food is quite good. The decor of the whole place is also impressive, and keeps with the chilled atmosphere with inscents and candle regularlily being lit.
However I wouldnt go there on a big night out without a deep pocket though!
Overall- A great pub for chilling, great staff, great atmosphere, and overall great set up mark this as one of my favorites in glasgow.

Theres an upstairs and theres a downstairs.
Upstairs is where those weird Japanese cartoons are. But also where all the lovely drink is!
Downstairs is really cool. Like a wee cellar with candles on the stairs as you go down.
Toilets are really small.

right next to the lighthouse on mitchell lane, great for coffee and wine. comfy seats and very good music. Foods good too, sort of chinese/japanese/ noodles and chillis etc... loved the chopsticks, makes eating fun! Even got a soft spot for the 70's looking wallpaper.
