Carling Academy gets lots of really top quality acts and is a nice wee venue. But unlike ABC, it's not central and doesn't do after-show club parties. Pity.

Having a mid size venue has increased the number of acts playing Glasgow which can only be a good thing.

It's a great venue and sound is pretty decent (it helps being an old theatre).

Only downside is that it can get very, very hot.

I've been here for quite a few gigs... bit less scruffy/smelly than the barras which is nice! But I don't think the acoustics are as good.

Was at Carling academy 2 c zero7 n its a pretty good venue, nice n spaceous...always good. There was a foam party there not long ago which i wish id known about coz it wuld hav been amazing, so the right place for that!!! only thing i didnt like the bouncers glaring over at u everytime u sparked a fag. hmmm. its an amazing place tho.

Ive been to the Carling Academy twice now (both times for Inside Out) and agree with the two prior reviews. Its got a nice high roof, so you dont end up as bogging/sweaty as you would in the Arches. Apart from that, a good change from the Arches!

The carling acadamy is a brilliant venue, once u get past the scary security and lack of toilets. for clubnights it provides a nice change from the arches and isnt as hot. Atmosphere at the cream vs Inside out was what we all come to expect and love from glasgow clubbers. well worth a look in.

I went to the Carling for the Slamevent last month, I really think that the venue should be used more often for such parties. It is quite big and you can enjoy a good sound almost from anywhere you are.
If you are lucky enough you can get promo drinks as well (there was vodka+red veeeery cheap that nite) and staff is quite friendly evenif the bouncers could check you worse than sniffer dogs, if you look too ned..
Premises are not so "posh" but if you dont wanna bother u going to London to the Ministry, well, you should have a good nite out at the Academy, just check the event!.
