Back in the 70s, Tennent's had quite a varied clientele - 'weel kent' west end bohemian bon viveurs, students, lecturers, 'artists', wannabe revolutionaries, Partick pensioners in their flat caps, moustachioed trendies in platforms and 'strides', businessmen, nurses from the Western on their fortnightly payday randan, vegetarian Rhodesian ridgebacks and obsessive compulsive 'Asteroids' players (me).
These days, it's basically an old man's bar, but the ambience is okay, and the variety now is to be found in the beer pumps. Great selection of ales.

Quick service which is very good indeed.
Very very bright lighting too.
Look about the crowd and you might think your in a licensed nursing home however. It reeks of 40 something Mums' perfume now the smoking ban has arrived.

Tennents is pretty cool.
Tennents is named after William Tennent, the first owner, and NOT the beer which is Tennants.
Inside it has a kinda boothy layout with a big bar right in the middle with loads of real ales (hand pumped and everything) and not your usual crap. Normal prices, if a little more expensive than most, but the old man atmosphere is great for the banter. Cheap food as well. After 3pm you get two meals for £6 which is pretty good. Straight out of a lab and into Tennents for dinner.
7/10

Probably the best pub in the West End. Good beer, good food, but above all else, good prices.

I like the place...nice atmosphere to it. Also got a classy wee off sales. I reccomend the Quiz in the Basement on a Monday night...promises to be a good laugh.

Proberly the best pint in the west end but very crowded at the weekends and during the fitba. Pleasent barstaff makes a change from the usual west end arseholes. Better for a lunchtime visit as the food is cheap and usually quite good.

Interesting mix of people in this place, including Alasdair Gray, who can be prone to spontaneous sketch-drawing! Has the look of an east-end London pub, but don't be fooled..great selection of bevvy, friendly staff, and the best steak and kidney pies anywhere in the west end. Here's a wee tip- if you like heavy, try Tennent's Ember...one of the most glorious pints you'll ever have...trust me!

Always busy at the weekend, but bar staff are experienced, so you don't have to wait long - and they won't serve the guy who just squeezed past you to get to the front. Respect goes to anyone who can finish a pint of Old Jock's
