The lighthouse cinema is one of the latest cinemas in the SBC chain. This cinema really is the best cinema in Aberdeen for comfort the seats are huge with wide armrests so your not fighting with your neighbour for elbowroom also legroom is more than modest. These are just the standard seats! Apart from the outstanding comfort the films are as with anything else you would expect from any multi screen cinema and of course the Dolby as standard. How do the prices compare? Well with the option of luxury seats which get you a free drink at the bar and a table rest in between your seats are slightly steep at £9.25 however the good news is the standard seats (but my no means standard) are £5.75 for adults and £3.25 for children senior citizens and students which is about 30p more expensive then other cinemas in Aberdeen but you really do feel the difference. The lighthouse cinema also run lots of returning customer incentive schemes with half price second movie offers and for students see 4 films and your fifth is free plus many more. Ok so all good so far, what is the catch? Well 2 minor ones really car parking can be awkward but there is a NEC car park right beside it with a cinema users discounted rate. Second point is that although the lighthouse has improved so many other areas of the "cinemas experience" they haven’t made a big enough effort with the food. It is still overly priced and at the same standard as your typical cinemas hotdogs and popcorn a little more variety would be nice. However do have a hagg and das ice cream bar where you can mix and match different 'scoops' of ice cream for a relatively cheap price (it is hagg and das). As i say these are minor points in an otherwise excellent cinema! The staff are always willing to help and friendly. One thing you can feel in the lighthouse is the sense of a good staff working environment which makes things more pleasant if the staff want to be there (or give the impression anyway). If you are considering going to the cinema in Aberdeen this is the one to go to!
