Studenty staff, lots of very studenty clientelle (which can be annoying on a saturday night when they're squealing and being generally irritating), OK food, nothing special on the beer front.

Now that's dispensed with, let's move on to what makes it a spectacular place: the balcony and beer garden. Really, incredible. Spent many a very happy night on that balcony as the sun went down and many a very happy afternoon between lectures in the (massive) beer garden.

Apart from the attractive barmaids, there's not much to recommend it indoors, but if you're going for an outdoor pint it really is one of the most unique bars I've visited. Well worth a summer visit.

Laing's is one of Dundee's better pubs. Meals used to be great but haven't eaten there in ages.
It's definitely a summer pub as the beer garden is the best one I've ever come across (although there are about a hundred stairs to the bar and you've lost half your drink the time you get back down!). They usually have a Summer BBQ too which is usually really good. (you need to buy tickets in advance).
Laing's is usually a starting point for me and my mates before we head further down the Perth Road.

The drinks in this pub are well overpriced and the pints are piss poor. None of the barstaff even know how to pour a pint properly. On the good side though there are never any underagers or gadgies like you would expect to find in Ward Road and the pub has a cracking beer garden which many frequent on those long sunny Saturday afternoons when there is no football.
