The old market inn is comprised of two pubs, down stairs and up. down stairs is an older persons "spit and sawdust" affair, with jukebox, t.v, regular dominoe competitions and darts. the patrons are real life hardcore drinkers, full of character and class. a great place to go if you need a reality check.
up stairs is the smallest live music venue in Inverness and arguably the very best. The home of live local music in the new city, upstairs inthe market is well known to host the very finest of local and visiting traditional and contemporary music. regularly featuring: the Scottish jazz legend Billy Morrison,
Disgrunteld Country rockers Stetsonhead
House wives favourites, the radio 2 friendly Lush Rollers and many, many more.
staffed with friendly jovial people and approachable, knowledgable bar flys, the old market inn has a truly unique family feel, not to be rivaled by any other pub in town. a meeting place of musicians and artists from all disciplines, there is a sense of acceptance and creativity in the air.
if a good, liberated, music and booze fuled night out is required, where eye contact with a local wont result in a fight, then the old market inn is the place. tired of fake pubs full of glitzy teenagers and disturbingly loud and incoherent music? then give upstairs a try...
