I must say that I was quite disappointed with FW, to be honest I was there on a Tuesday nyt(seemingly not a gr8 nyt out in Edinburgh!)and to my horror found the place deserted!!The only friendly ppl who bothered to talk to us were from Glasglow. The drink was dear-not for Ireland, but for Edinburgh. The choice of drink available on tap was appalling-I ended up with Stella :Q the cider served was mank, bar staff were most unhelpful, service was ridiciously slow.To top it off I requested a song(-from the one-man-band)and was rudely told no. He continued with his (bad)reniditions of pop tunes with intermittant, token Irish songs...my first taste of nytlife in Scotland-I was not impressed...but then we headed next door to Espionnage, and we actually finshed up having a savage nyt. Mighty craic al2gthr!

There are brill bands there every night of the week that get the crowd going! I'd def recommend the place it's an absolute legend of a pub!! Some very sexy barmen too!

Finnegans wake is good fuckin times. Don't be fooled by these pubs. Most are owned by huge monopoly companies like Spirits Group (bastards). So if your Bartender isnt smiling, its cause hes gettin paid shit, cant drink, and is trying to figure out what his odds are of working the nite that the floor joists in the place blow out because a certain Spirits Group somebody doesnt think its a big deal to have em fixed anytime soon. But not to be put down, this joint has great music, legendary staff (big shout outs to all you guys, miss ya), full of good people. To be quite honest I risked many a nites on that old floor even when i wasnt working. So go for a pint of beamish black and a few slippery nipples and you'll quickly forget about the floor as you swallow the atmosphere the music and the people.

This place is absoluteley egendary, not only was i lucky enough to work there,i was privaledged to work with a nice a bunch of people you could imagine. The craic there is mighty, the live music, especially the Dazes are class.Theres a great buzz around the place all week but it really comes alive from thursday night onwards.I personally preferred the GAA weekends, when the matchs were shown and the large Irish support was out in force.A must see if only to have a look at all the t-shirts on the ceilings.

Finnegan's Wake is a fantastic pub. If your Irish it's the place to go and if not you won't be dissapointed, you'll have a fab time. There is live music every night of the week and on a Sunday they show all the GAA matches. At weekends it is totally buzzing. For a good night out in Edinburgh Finnegan's Wake should be the first place you go to.
