The Moorings is brilliant, the kind of place you can rock out with your cock out.

This bar rocks - pure and simple. The folks are nice, the music is great and the range of drinks here would put any "style" bar (and their inflated prices) to shame. About time they opened a Fife branch though...

The Moorings is my favourite pub in my home town, and one that I always go to when I go home. Just a great place to spend the night in. Strange and diverse but always down to earth!

Blue22 how much are we paying you? I can't think of anything to add to that :( Identify yourself to me next time you visit the bar. I assume you are coming back heh heh.
The bar has undergone a major upgrade and is due to reopen 2nd of March 2004. We now have a wider and more centralised permanent stage. A decent sized dancefloor in front of the stage, arguably the bext sound system in town, nice toilet. Yes nice toilets. No really nice toilets.
The rest of the place is evolution rather than revolution.
See you there.

This place is like no other. Like a cross between some weird road movie, the Star Wars canteena, Treasure Island, and a 70s school disco. This is the sort of place where you really enjoy yourself without any comeback, even if you accidentally puke on the floor.
The place is predominantly frequented by students, sailors, rockers, goths, bikers, punks...
They have the most awesome range of booze you have ever seen, and the prices are very keen. Students get a discount, and ocassionally force fed freebie tasters of some freaky rum from another solar system. Aparently they sell more Jaegermeister than vodka.
The jukebox is incredible. It had the Darkness on it the week it was released before anyone had heard of them. You get everything from ACDC to Zappa, with stuff like Tool, Killing Joke, QOTSA - whatever is original. regulars get to buy CDs for the bar but have to write their own inlays. Even the older stuff isn't the usual over played crap, it gets swapped around a lot. Masters of Puppets one week, Ride the Lightning the next. Lot's of stuff I never even new existed.
Thursday nights are VERY busy for some reason. Lots of people go here before moshulu.
Fridays there is an excellent rock night, there's this DJ she plays most requests and has a good banter with the crowd. This can be a HEAVING night, get there before 9 if you want a seat.
Saturday there is usually live bands and they erect this stage seemingly out of nowhere. The bands tend towards newer younger local acts. Sometimes the place is packed, it seems to depend on who is playing. One of the best places to see a band though, amazing atmosphere.
Sunday there is a jam session with lots of experienced players. Lots of joking about.
The bar staff are really cool and friendly. They let you off with most things and have a good laugh. Very quick to break up trouble though so wouldn't like to mess with them. If anyone is behaving like a total asshole, bugging other people then they get thrown out.
Worst part is the toilets. they stink.
