studio 24 (or the calton studios ) has been a huge part of the underground music scene in edinburgh for years, from clubs like Sativa, Pure, Pillbox, The Mission, Apex, DKY to Dogma, and Dr No's this venue has always been no 1 for representing the seedier side of edinburghs music scene. Its like a 2nd home for me, and you will find the friendliest and weirdest people visiting this venue! It is a little skanky, but its not there for a posh clubbing experience. But the door staff are the friendliest in town and bar prices are reasonable too. You can show your support to this club by visiting www.savestudio24.com or coming to the 'Devils Juice' halloween special 31/10/05!!
Cheers!

If you like it hard, this is the place to be. Seems to host mostly hard techno on a Friday ... Dogma is the jewel in the crown, but that's not to say the others aren't top draw - they are! Saturday hosts the Mission, probably the best club for rock/metal in the Burgh.
I think there's also a rock night on a Sunday too - DKY ... I hear it's good, never been myself.
You could slate this place in soooo many ways, the decor, the toilets, the fact that sometimes it's colder inside than it is outside (no in the main room tho .. :D) .......... but at the end of the day, you don't come here for the scenery. Mad fer it, friendly crowd.
Oh, and Dogma's probably the best ever night ever ... check it oot, even if you don't like techno! Everybody I've ever taken says the same ... it's amazingly good fun.

Last night was the first time I'd ever been to Dogma.
The crowd was so diverse I stuggled to contain my amusement.
Music was a mixture of house techno and twisted house, with a bit of funk aswell.
The club is by no means the cleanest or the nicest, in fact as soon as you see it from the outside the realisation will hit you like a tonne of bricks. But if you're looking for a club night different from all the rest and are quite openminded I'd reccommend it.
The sound system is fairly decent although I thought it could have done with being a little bit louder (and harder if I was to be truthful)
The bars prices are average but they do sell everything in plastic cups (a pet hate of mines...)
I'm definately going to go back because I reckon this place could be another little diamond in the rough, or the tough in the rough!

Carlton Studios, owner to the legend called "Dogma" closely followed by the ripper of a night "UTI". Go to both, experience what a REAL club is like. None of that cheezy shit. Yeah a few sweaty people, a few shitty toilets, but how often do you go out to judge toilets? Hard clubbin' and quality mixin' is what its all about.

The Carlton is fantastic and if you like good dirty techno then Dogma is one hell of a night. excellent ungerground club and the folk who run it are sound. not on the beaten track but it's well worth it . Don't expect to remember what you got up to if you go - it's that good!!!
