Small, no light whatsoever, packed. What a combination. Music is good actually, but sometimes too much and peope get bored until the dj decides to put something more "known" by the people there and athmosphere cheers up.
2 cocktails and a pint, 10 pounds + 5 pounds entry + 1 pound per item in the cloackroom. If you ask me... not worth it. there's tons of places...

I found this place reasonably enjoyable but essentially it was AVERAGE - the music, the people, the decor.
It's also a bit small and a bit packed as a result which doesn't allow much scope for creativity on the dancefloor. Pogo-ing is the order of the day, or should I say night/early morning?

I live here. It's lost some of it's appeal now that it's been discovered by the masses though..shame. Still love it to the death though. Indie-go on a Wednesday - it made my summer!

Apart from the bouncers being complete cock wanks and there being a members and non members que and then the fannies that thought we were standing freezing ourselves to death for the good of our health it was an alright night. I mean standing in a que to get into the liquid rooms for 1 3/4 hours isn't funny. Neither is it funny when your wearing a skirt and you looked the dogs bollocks before you left and get into the place feeling like a bag of defrosted bread. (yes it was that cold last night)
If you wanna know the criteria which seperates non members from members PM me.
Then the bouncers had the cheek to practically strip search everyone going in... I'm no being funny mate but the length of time standing in that que, I would've scoffed the lot. I don't even know what they were searching me for, a heated blanket perhaps?
The crowd was friendly enough, it was quite mixed. Going out with a gay bloke and a straight bloke made for very interesting observing, while the strauight guy was very scared to venture from sie the gay guy was happy to rom the club. No toffs to be seen, which made my night because toffs are a bit wanky for my liking. Apart from the odd tube, there really wasn't much to complain about mind you I don't really class a night on the clientile that goes to a place.
The music was great and the atmosphere was top of the pops. It had a funky house feel to uit, with a bit of hard house thrown in for good measure, the mixing was practically spotless and while we only went to the main room I heard from the idle gossip in the toiles that thee whole place was pounding.
The liquid rooms isn't the idealisic of venues fair enough it is big but for the amount of people packed in there I couldn't help feeeling that it could've been a bit biggger. The floors were quite slidey and the drink was pretty fuckin dear. £12 for 2 vodka bulls and 2 aftershock which is 3 quid a drink ... mmm dunno if i was happy about that, mind you after waiting in the que for that long I was just happy to get in the place (for about 3 hours before it shut!)
All in all a good friendly night, good music, good atmoshpere a lot more laid back and funky from what I'm used to but it was good.
They threw in a freee cd on leaving, which a lot of clubs could do... keep the punters happy.

Liquid Rooms have improved with the refurb, now atleast everyone can see the DJ they paid for with their left leg.
Excellent Rig & DJ Line ups, but the opt-in for assasin sniffer dogs to root out stoners from a que of potentially violent beer guzzerlers is beyond me. Clearly this ones going underground, those who know what that means, know.

The Liquid rooms have come a long way. Friday nights have traditionally been terrible, yukky indie nights for students with daft hair cuts and mis-fitting clothes. Fine if you like it i suppose, i dont. My first attempt to do some decent clubbing at the Liquid Room was therefore inspired by the new monthly regular slot for Colours. I've been to colours a couple of times in Glasgow including seeing Sasha so the chance to get in on the action in Edinburgh was v. exciting.
We'd been planning this one for a while, ever since we heard that the fantastic Way Out West were going to be attending. Also with Nick Warren following on his own on the decks this one was going to be great.
I've made the mistake in the past about over selling my self on particular nights out..
Pre-clubbing was done at the Cite Cafe, top pub but v. expensive :( Managed to get away at 11.30 and made the short walk to the Liquid Room just a bit up the Royal Mile.
Biggish queue at the venue but as we had tickets we swanned right in, the cloak room was a disater though. As way out west were just starting we were forced to dump the jackets in a corner upstairs.
Once the jackets were sorted we rushed down to hear The Gift in full swing.
Jody Wisternoff and Nick Warren were on the stage playing keyboards while the beautiful Trisha Lee Kelshall danced around in front of them whipping the crowd into a warm, wonderful frenzy. When it came to the awsome Mindcircus everyone was jumping, this was just too good.
The place was busy but not so busy as to be annoying. The excellent crowd were friendly and accommadating.
We danced away as the stage was changed for Nick's solo set and before we knew it we were bouncing up and down to a perfect blend of trance and progressive house music.
I dont think anyone knew where the time went, the lights came on at 3.00 and suddenly we could see everyone dancing. One more everyone cried out and a state of true euphoria was reached as Nick blasted out a few more tracks.
Wow, maybe the best night ive ever had, probably in fact. I dont think we'll ever forget the magic of when Way Out West came to edinburgh and lifted us up to a new level of clubbing. Quite amazing.
Gordon.

I love this place, granted its not the cleanest club youll ever go to, but this only ensures the posing twats stay at the Opal lounge where they belong and lets us get on with dancing and enjoying the quality music
