Its now June 2012 and the CC Blooms review in the previous comment is a thing of the past! CC's has just re-opened after a massive refurbishment which has transformed it into one of the most stylish bars in the city! You HAVE to check it out,as you wont believ its the same place!

It obviously been a while since anyone has commented on here! there is an other club club over the road called GHQ. It's bigger, brighter and funky. But CC's has a better atmosphere going on. it may be small and crowded, but that better than a big place half empty most of the time surely.

who are the bouncers?? are they from a company or do they work for the club? i would suggest writing letters of complaint to the company or to the licencing board about the bouncers and the apparent overcrowding

All the straight people who have said that CC Blooms is OK have not put it into context. Imagine if CC's was the only dedicated hetrosexual club that was available and you would soon realise how horrible it is!! CC Blooms needs to lose the attitude as it's a complete hole. I prefer to stay off the scene or wait until Joy is on rather than go to that place. I understand that you feel it is descriminatory that you shouldn't be allowed in if you are straight...but there are sometimes troublemakers. True, it would be descrimination if I weren't allowed into a straight club on the ground that I am gay. However, I am sure that it wouldn't be tolerated in any of Edinburgh's bars...from the Opal Lounge to Revolution, for me to show any form of affection to my partner without comments being passed or at least a few looks being given.

Love the place when I get the chance to go. Really cheesey... but always have a good time. Pity about the occational posting from Homophobes here... perhaps we should show them what it's like and start posting negative things on str8 club boards. Come-on guys... get over your upbringing and learn to open your eyes. The music is playing... we're all having a blast, and you're outside in the cold with your hatred... who's the looser?

The main problem with CC's is it's the only gay club in Edinburgh. (Apart from the weekly and monthly jobs, which are better.)
However, it can be a good laugh if your with friends. This thing about regulars only: Here's a tip; the bouncers don't really know who the regulars are, they might just think your straight. Answer? Tell them you go in often and you know where the toilets @ bar are situated (Toilets downstairs: opposite the bar. Groundfloor; Back left-hand corner by the cloakroom. Note! There aren't any on the first floor;)
If your on your own, I'd avoid it, I always feel like a spare part...:) (Mmm, but then maybe I am??)

I too am a straight woman, and I have very few complaints about CC Blooms. On a Friday and Saturday night, getting downstairs is a Nightmare, and they usually have it well over the capacity of 220 anyway. How do I know this? Well, lets just say, some of the bouncers are NASTY and take their job far too seriously. A couple are really sweet though. Great on a Thursday and Sunday for Karaoke, but saty away on a Tuesday, cos everyone goes to Vibe @ Ego, just over the road!!!
Happy partyin!!!
